Harrison Bay Crappie Fishing 4-5-2006

Well I got the bug at 4:30 and instead of going home to have dinner I stopped and got a couple dozen minners and went over to search out NRG's crappie hole behind the swimming pool. He gives a lot better detail about WHERE to fish ... unlike some we know (HINT: WHEN). Got settled about 5:40 or so and fished for about 30 minutes with no luck. People were playing frisbee and dogs were being walked around the park so I had lots of distractions to entertain me. A couple and their young'in came down the opposite side of the slough and fished directly across from me. While they were getting settled the fella hollared out "Is that you TT?" Ha .. turns out JSV and his wife and daugher had come looking for NRG's hole too! However he was much closer than I at finding it. After fishing my side of the slough all the way to the end with no results I decided to go over and fish with JSV's family.

Well .. he has the cutest little girl and a very pleasant wife.

Fishing ...

SLOW! I saw lots of bait being chased by stuff. Don't know what either the chaser or the chased were. I caught 2 keeper crappie and JSV 1 that he gave to me! I caught several more fish ... 3 or 4 NON keeper crappie ... 1 really shinney fish that looks like a humungous minnor ... I can't remember their name at the moment! I think JSV's daughter caught a small bass too. Over all the fishing wasn't great. We had to deal with spurts of wind! It's very hard to throw a minner out there with a bobber in the wind! Needed to tie a 2 # weight to it! HAHAHA

But I managed enough crappie for me and hubby to have dinner thanks to JSV's contribution and had a good time with mother nature and my new found friends, JSV and family.

Have I not ever told you that Why blind folds me before we leave to fish the secret hole? I don't even know where it is!! Yea, that's it.

You did better than we did last night....but then again.....we didn't go!!!

When and Why you TWO have given TT so much grief you really should let her go with ya. You should be ashame of yourselves. She sounds like she doesn't catch all that much and I would love to see her holding up one of your "secret hole" big'uns. I know she would sure look better than you two's ugly muggs. I bet if you really wanted to blind fold her to go she would be game just for the chance.emoCool Jmax

TT, u mite want to try behind the tennis courts. It is easier walking if you park at the back of the first parking lot, instead of going all the way to very back ( coverd cooking area ). We were there on Monday and caught 6, pretty quick (less than an hr), on sassy shads, fished under float, about 18-24 inches.
Its a bit of a walk, but I just pace myself. Just don't take a short cut, goin off the bank, its about a 10 foot drop......ask my 12 yr old and he will tell you it was fun........... NOT FOR ME. I walked another 50 yards further to the left and got down easy.
Fish the first point you come too and then go on around the the next point to your left. Fish around those trees in the water.

BTW, they are still biting in Ramsey slough also, same bait, same depth. My son went yesterday and caught 8

Hey TT, if you make a REAL LONG CAST due west maybe north west from where you are fishing you might reach the "secret hole", but then again I am fishing blindfolded. The blind fold only comes off at picture time.

I'm thinking there isn't a secret hole and you get the fish for your pictures from other "helpers". Otherwise ... you would be glad to take me. RIGHT?

About your second comment.........I don't even know how to respond!! The next thing I know you'll be saying I've been paying RSimms for these fish to have my picture made with them. I guess a video will have to be next, huh? With all the appropriate landmarks edited out, of course!! Except the corn dogs in the mouth. (Fishes mouth)

I've thought about stopping there several times .. I eyeball it each and every day I go home and to work ... it always has a couple vehicles ... someday I'm gonna beat them there! I hope!

I know that's dangerous ... but so far most of the gabbing about this has been with YOU! Why hasn't had much to say except for once or twice. Seems to me I'd rather try my luck with the strong silent one ... and since you keep giving him all the power and credit for finding and taking you to the secret hole, maybe I should be dealing with him? Whatcha think?
