While I was at Vanderbilt this weekend, I ran over to Bass pro and bought some of drumkings jigs and dye to see if I could catch some crappie when I got home.( also picked up a new crappie outfit )emoScratch emoFish I got out on the water yesterday evening and fished around the marina for a couple of hours and picked up 8 big slabs and 5 small one. ( sure was good to get out ) sorry no pics, left camera at home. Caught all my fish on pink/chartreuse stingers 1.5 ft. under a float. All on my new outfit, had a ball.emoBigsmile emoFish emoFish

I'm glad to see that the stingers worked for you, FM. I have never tried them under a float. Maybe I should do that sometime.

Remember, always in the past when I crappie fished, I would troll, using minnows and jigs, so I'm new at this. I have to learn from you pros that do this all of the time. I just have to find out where you guys go to catch all of your fish, other than HarrisonBay, I just don't know.

Look toward the middle to back end of nearly every cove around and if you can find woody cover, stumps, docks, concrete, rocks, brush, etc. in 3-6 feet of water, you will find Crappie with loving on their minds. Floats set 18" to 2' deep or tightlined if you use a light enough jig to keep it slightly above the stumps will do. Coves that are on the northeastern side of the lake get more sunlight and warm faster, but at the present temps, it really doesn't matter. They are moving into every place that there is. I usually try to avoid the most popular places as those fish get hammered to death. I look for out of the way places that most overlook and when you can find a school of crappie in these areas, it doesn't take an hour to get a limit.

Shoot me a pm fishin machine and maybe one evening I can get out with ya and show you a couple spots. Thurday is probably the one day I can't go. Churly and I are hoping to hit the lake that evening.
