Recently I know we talked about people and situations on the water, this weekend at Wolf T. It came home. Pulled my trailer out of the parking spot to load the boat and something didn't seem right, looked down at my trailer wheel to find that some idiot had ran into my trailer pushing the fender down into the tire. Luckly it didn't bust the tire but I'm still trying to get the fender back in postion and the dent out. No note, no sorry I rammed you trailer, just me with a damaged trailer. I know these things happen, I've seen it just a few weeks ago, some chick dropped her hubby off in the boat and having never parked a trailer before ran over another trailer while trying to park. Then took off, jumped in the boat and vanished. It just so happened that two other people had seen it with me and they knew who's trailer had gotten hit and had called him and the police already. Like I said I know it happens but come on people.emoAngry

If this keeps up, I just might have to approach the TWRA with a bid for a CCTV system

. It amazes me that people have the gall to 'hit-n-run' at the ramp and in the parking area. How could you just go on about your day on the water after smashing someone elses trailer

That is really sad. Good job in calling the police, most people wouldn't do that and would just leave and try to forget it. Personal responsibility has really gone down in the last few years. I hope that my kids have learned to take responsibility for what they do to other peoples' property. I'm sure it would be embarassing to admit that you hit someone else's trailer in the parking lot but I think that it would be worse to have the police there to point it out. I guess some folks just expect to get away with things like that, sad.

My wife did the same thing one day, but it only busted a guy's trailer light. I wrote a note and we went out fishing. As we were coming in, the guy she hit was loading. He hadn't noticed or even seen the note yet, so I told him and we all went to a local marine dealer with him and got it fixed for $20. It's easy to make a mistake, and just as easy to fix it. Since taking responsibility is not particularly painful, why do people go to such pains to avoid it? PS: she refuses to park the trailer anymore!

My rig as some of you may know is very huge and requires a full space and then some. I take great pains in parking my rig to reduce the possibility of being hit. Each and every time i get back to my truck, I will walk around and inspect it..

It would not be a bad idea to photo the tag of vehicles parked next to you that are in position where they could cut in an clip your rig..

If you do find damage then you should walk the entire parking lot and see if you can find a vehicle with corresponding damages. That will not prove it for sure but it may. I would think that if someone hit your trailer and was such a jerk that they would hide it from you, may park somewhere else rather than to leave and cancel their boating plans.

Backed into a guy's trailer last year. Broke one of his amber lights and put a small dent in the fender. I left a note for him to contact me. He was very nice, thanked me for my honesty, and said he'd get an estimate of the damage and call me back. I never heard from him again.

I hate that for ya FB. Sadly, a lot of people will leave it up to the victim to prove it even when they know they are guilty.

I can picture everyone walking around with a 24/7 eyecam on a headband evertime they go out in public. The recording being beamed to a satellite for future use if needed.emoSmile

That is one good thing about Raccoon Mtn. They have cameras everywhere and I have never heard of an incident down there.
It takes all kinds I guess. Well maybe it don't take all kinds but we certainly have them.

hl&s, in my mind I know that there is Someone always watching and keeping an account of what is happening to you, me, and everyone else and we will all pay for our mistakes later if we don't pay for them now anyway. Don't let it get you down about human nature and those that would not fess up to wronging someone, stealing something, or the huge list of other wrongs that happen, we will all get what we deserve in the end unless someone pays for it.

I haven't been fishing and this happen. But have went out to my truck and someone opened there car door on it. People just do not care anymore. My brother in law was in a wreck last week and they just drove off. Fortunately the people behind them got the license plate. At the last tournament at the G , 3 of our members could not even get out because someone parked in front of them and behind them. We had to pick there trailer up and move it over just so they could get out.

I was up at Marion Co. Park ramp last week and fished all morning. When I got back to my truck someone rammed my right corner of my trailer. No note or anything. I had just put new lights all the way around and rewired the whole thing and then that happened. It sucks not knowing what happened, but what can you do?

I totally agree with you PD emoSmile God Knows All !

There are good, fair, honest people among us too who try to do the right thing.

History shows that a ratio of responsible/irresponsible people has existed since Adam and Eve.

Cameras only force guilty people to pay up sooneremoBigsmile

Eric, if you took your boat over there with you when you went they more than likely would have done it for free just to get you to leave with that smellie boat of yours stinking up their business.emoPoke

I have been hit TWICE!!!!! this year. Both times due to our great members on this here forum I was told who hit me and got them to pay the damages. It pays to be a member in more ways then one.emoWorthy Jmax

I don't plan on giving up on fishing because of it, But it makes me wonder about what it'll be like in another ten years or so. My daughter is just a few months old and already I've started buying fishing gear for her. I just hope that she will still be able to enjoy the sport I've come to love so much without all the distractions and carelesness of people who don't respect anyone or anything. Maybe it's just a few of us that take to heart the steward of the outdoors type thinking, but I hate to think what it would be like with out it.emoCool
