HB dog fight 6-9-2006

It took almost 8lbs to get in the money last night. 9.5lbs won it and big fish was 4.5lbs I think. there 40+ participants. The wind was rediculous for the first hour and a half, but finally calmed down by dark. We stuck with the same pattern of fishing deep c-rigs and CBs, each hole we stopped at was loaded with alot of 14.5 inch fish. I bet we measured 5 fish and had to do double takes on a few, a few were just shy of the 15" mark, but I would not dare to risk the embarassment of a DQ. i finally caught a chunky little keeper that fought like a 20lb redfish. It was an absolutely beautiful evening, and it was nice to enjoy the lake. I even got to meet a CFFr-Cory Nichols, nice to meet ya Cory! All i can say is that there are fish deep it has just been hard to come by a keeper, but other fisherman reported having culled several fish, they are fishing the same pattern I was for the most part. 3rd place was won by an older man fishing in a pontoon boat, Rogne Browns father. His partner was fat little bull dog, anyone who has a boat and 3 hours on Thursdays should come and fish these dogfights, they are cheap, alot of fun, they pay 4-6 places depending on # of participants, and the guys who participate are really good guys! Got to fish the dogfight last nite with my son , Brent. Caught 4 keepers on a long point with a little rock pile on the end of it in 8-10'. Brent had big fish, a 4.32, slow rolling a SB over the point. Nothing better than gettin' to fish with my boy. Congrats, too, Cory, ya'll had a nice sack. What where you donig to catch those fish?

I remeber you guys. I was standing to left of your son at the weigh in. That was a big fish, but your son made it look small! thats one big boy! Congrats on the big fish and thaks for the report!

Just a little of this and some of that, Mostly fishing my go to lure, A dropshot rig with a buzzbait (ha ha) I know we won't be weighting in anymore of those mythical mean mouths. But will get three more next week. Last night somebody was on my good spot so we just though tougher a limit by hitting some of the old favs.

Is anybody fishing the CBA on Sat?

Great to hear you and Brent were able to get out there together. I hope that his knees are holding up, that football can be tough on them. Is he still playing? I remember reading about him one year at Central and I wished for a long time that I had called you to tell you congrats. I'll do it late: Congrats on all of Brent's accolades!!!!!!!!! We still need to get out there. I would be happy to fish one of those dogfights sometime if Brent is not available. Let me know.

Will do. Yea, he is still playing, now at UTC. Played fullback his freshman year but they're moving him to def. end this season. His knee is doing great. God's healing mercy & a fine Christian surgeon, Dr. Todd Bell, & sound rehab have the team doctors saying his "injured" knee is as strong or stronger than his "good" knee

Yeah, he dwarfs me & most any bass we catch. I'm going to tell him to let me hold 'em next time, they'll look twice as big! We can't fish next but will be back the week after. Catch us & introduce yourself, we'd like to meet another CFF'er.

Bio,

We are trying to get in as much fishing together as we can before he starts training camp Aug. 1. We need to meet up one afternoon & hit the lake. I can usually get away from the office around 3:30 or 4:00. We'll be at the beach this week but let's try to go when we get back week after next.
Polo, we need to get out there too.
