HB Transducer Compatibility

Thinking about buying a 998 for the console and moving my 798 to the bow. Want to know if I can keep the transducer and wiring at the console as is and just plug up the 998. I would then use the ducer that comes with the 998 at the bow and hook it to the 798. Both units will have the external GPS.

I'm hoping to avoid paying to have the currently installed ducer and wiring removed and replaced with the one that comes with the 998.

I made that same switch. The power and GPS cables on the 797 will work on the 998. The transducer on the 998 is a High Def. transducer. To get the best images you will need to change it out. If you need help with the install just let me know. It isnt that hard to do and I wont charge you for the help.

Hey Tim,
Thanks for the info and offer. When I buy it I'll be sure to give you a call. The 798 I have was installed by Island Cove Outdoors and they did a great job for me. Since the wiring is already there, I hope we can just use the existing to pull the new one through. Sounds too simple though.

I have some string we can tie to the old transducer cable and pull it out. Then simply tie the string to the new cable and pull it back thru. Just let me know when you get it. I will be glad to help you.
