Anyone notice a fuel smell at the HBSP marina today ? A "strong" smell all the way out to the bay and a multi-colored sheen all over the water. I called the marina office and they said they were aware of it and working on it...but I saw no one working. It sounds like a leak from a large boat or gas line to the gas pumps. They wouldn't give me details. What's odd was a boat caught fire at Island Cove this afternoon. That could have been a big problem if it had happened at HBSP. Pics of the boat...

Alot of fuel on wster this morning at HBSP . Ranger were loking at something on weat side of dock

Yeah it was a super strong smell yesterday!! At first it looked like a fuel spill on the ramp. But, I don't think so. It was A lot of fuel and I wouldn't be lighting a cig! Would have been unreal if that boat caught on fire in HBSP!

I saw the boat on fire as I was headed home this afternoon.

I could see the smoke from Harrison and the boat was completely engulfed in flames.

Anybody know what happened?

Lucky for now there's a south wind influence but, thats gonna change soon. Hope it stays contained. Shame if it effects the fish as hbsp is a great fishery.

Search called off for night... inspected pipes and nothing found

Believe it's a boat and inspected three docks

Will be able to narrow down tomorrow

It seemed like the strongest smell and most film on the water was around D-E-F docks ? Hope you find it.

People had been out on the boat earlier in the day. Around 2:45 there was a "boom" and the boat was on fire. It was in a slip close to the fueling dock. Someone who saw it was able to get the boat away from the dock and out into open water. The best thing you can do instead of trying to put the fire out and possibly have other boats catch on fire on the dock.

Noticed the fuel smell on Thur when we came in about 2. Didn't smell like gas though. Didn't know what it was. I did see Mon a ranger spraying some blue chemical into the water walking down the fuel dock. Asked her what she was spraying for, said she was spraying weeds! LoL! Weeds?....riiiight!

The leaking fuel source has been found. I just talked to a ranger and he said it's coming from a boat on "G" dock. That's the dock on the end by the gas pumps. The largest boats are docked there. As of around 6:00 pm the smell would still knock you over far away from there and fuel was all over the water. I was hoping a little rain might help with it.

Pretty sure it was diesel fuel. There had to be a lot of it leaked out for it to cover the entire marina.
