On Saturday, my HDS 5 would not stay on. Just kept resetting itself. It would come right back on but only stay on for a minute or so. Prior to that it would reset when I started the big motor. Lowrance told me that was probably due to a drop in voltage. Checked the connections and they seem tight. I plan to pull it out today and send it in. Any suggestions before I send it away?

I had same problem when it was wired to the dash and I decided to run the hot straight to my battery, havent had a problem since. I also have 2 cranking batteries parallel, but when you have 2 hd7s and 1 hd8 and do alot of night fishing as I do you need it. I would run straight to battery and have your battery tested under a load to rule that out.

Thanks for the input. Batteries were new last year.I was thinking it is a straight connection to the battery but the wiring was put in when the boat was built. Will try to work on it this afternoon.

Thanks. Got it covered. New wires from the unit to the cranking battery. Took it out yesterday afternoon and all seemed to be working as they should.
