HDS 8 how do you wire the scan unit

I have a 185 ranger .Do I use one of the access buttons.What wire goes where?

The red and black wire goes to the battery and the yellow wire is a wake up wire which I have connected to yellow wire on HDS at console. Some have the yellow wire connected to a switch. When you power up HDS unit, it powers on the LSS1.

I didn't have to wire the hds unit I used the old power cord.I heard it was better to power up the scanner by its self on one of the switches at the console.I think the red goes to the switch and the black to the panel under the consol .Not sure about the yellow and the blue.

The yellow wire the LSS is your wake up wire and it needs to be wired to switch or to the yellow wire on HDS unit or it will not power up. Tape off the blue wire. You may need to use cord that came with your unit so you will have yellow wire. Also its best if you run wires straight to battery and not thru your console and use the fuse connection that came with it. These units are very sensitive and any type of corrosion could create a voltage drop. There is no on and off switch for LSS, thats what the yellow wire is for.
