The Head of the Hooch is back on the river in downtown Chattanooga on Nov. 3 & 4. This is one of the largest and oldest rowing events in the country, bringing 5,000 to 8,000 competitors and 10,000 spectators to our city for the weekend.

One of the event coordinators contacted me recently asking for boating volunteers to help transport judges, media etc...looking for pontoon boats or smaller boats that have smaller wakes and a little more creature comfort than the typical boats we see following the local teams that practice on the river.

I know this is way off this forum's topic and I know I'll get some classic CFF responses...but I told the fellow I'd throw it out to this group and see what happens. I impersonate a fisherman, mainly on the river below Chick...I'm not a rower. Most of you guys that fish the river regularly are used to seeing the rowers in the afternoon so you know what I'm talking about. Remember, on that weekend, rain or shine, there will be over 5,000 competitors and roughly 1500 boats on the river from about Chatt Golf to Ross's Landing.

If you have any interest in volunteering some time for this event...drop me a line for more details.

And...please go easy on me with the colorful respnses.

I think you ruled me out with the phrase "creature comforts".

I do quite probably have several creatures on my boat. I cannot attest to their comfort levels, seeing as they probably live under the decking. However, as warped as that decking is, I may start running into them more often!
