Our whopping 3 boat work tourney Tuesday night 6p-2a below Watts Bar was a learning experience since I have never been down there before. We headed down river first and tried some grass with the frog then and I missed a solid 3.5-4 thenworked our way up a creek to pocket full of shorts and a solitary 15" keeper. It was dark by the time we made our way outta the woods and we headed up to the lock and made our limit of 3 LM. I brought the Foley just to see if I could luck up with a smallie and all I found were baby stripe, whites, and of all things at night a bunch of skippies and one that had to push the state record who decided to snap my line as I lifted it into the boat. The lock outletwasbusting atseams with small threads which I am sure that's why all the skips and whites were there. We then moved to the wing wall and more of the same a crap load of skips, whites, and baby stripes. We were pretty much fun fishing at this point and made one drift down the rip rap and I picked up a stud smallie on my never fail Ugly Otter in Gold Rush on a shakey head. Needless to say we finished 2 outta 3 and barely losing by .05 of a pound!!emoBang </p>

Half of the folks here call a white bass a stripe, the second half call a striped bass a stripe. The third half call them strippers. There is also something here called a "yaller stripe". Looks just like a yellow bass.

Despite what Heath says, a stripe is a mark, not a fish. A stripper is also not a fish, but is a completely different subject, although every bit as interesting...................... as Heath is well aware of (or so they tell me)emoTongue emoTongue

By the way, great smallie (uh, smallmouth bass)!! emoBigsmile Not so much the tiny striped bass. Wish you had posted a picture of a stripper.
