Well, I braved out the weather and fished a small Tx with my good buddy Jason Chase who works at Heat Tec.

Getting up early, we started off at Waffle House to fill our bellies first. Blast off was at 7 and man was it cold. The lake wasnt too bad but it got better! Started off at hales Bar and picked up several fish on a jerkbait. No keeprs...all 14 3/4. Headed up river and fished some blow downs..same thing.

Decided to go up about 6-7 miles and fished a few flats. Just as I was about to hit a bank with some TP..LOL..I threw out towards a log and BAM..what a hit! i thought at first it was a good Ol Cat or Drum so jason wasnt in a hurry to get the net..then she surfaced. I screamed at him to get the D$%^M NET NOW! Landed and put onthe sclaes...6.5! Talk about breaking my dry streak!

Headed on back towards the dam and road out some rough waters. jason was holding down the rods and somewhere, his tackle box flew out. ovr $100 worth was gone! i felt bad for him being that I was the one getting most of the fish..LOL. Not to worry though. He took it well and we went on.

Got around some of his favorite spots. Thought it would be a slow. Not too bad...we changed up to a shakeyhead jig with a brushhog and it was like every other cast. I had 2 good one come undone but we managed to get 3 more keepers in the boat.

David Powell and his wife got first with 12+

Next was (i don;t know the guys name, sorry) 10 pounds

3rd place, but no money, Myself and Jason.

Big Fish...US!

Great day with my buddy but a hard day on us physically. Anyone that went this morning has to be wore out tonight!

Great looking fish BBass. Sounds like a great day other than the loss of the fishing tackle. I had 1/2 of a rod jump out of my boat a couple of weeks ago too. Bummer.

Bbass you must be some kind of tough. Everybody else is bundled up and you have jeans and a hoodie. Nice bass there too.

Nice fish BBass !!

I fished the Carl Reed tourny Saturday out of Shellmound. Ice would shave off my rod guides and line leveler as I reeled in. I would have to dip my rod in the water before each cast to melt the ice. I used a toothpick to clean my line leveler. It was some kind of cold.

I was surprised to see the surface water temp in the 59 to 62 degree range. Thought it would be colder with the strong winds. We caught several fish and managed to get our 3 fish limit. Came up way short at weigh in with just a 5.94 lb bag. Several 3 to 4 lb bass were caught by other anglers and there were several limits. Big fish was 5.19 lbs and the winning weight was 13.19 lbs.

I didn't expect that many fish to be caught during such a cold front but the fish we caught hit fairly hard. Worms caught all our fish but one and it was caught on a jig. It goes to show you just can't predict what fish are going to do.

CFF's Wormhook and his partner Ravishing Rob (Nickajack Mafia) won the Carl Reed.......AGAIN....I think we need to break all their rods!

E-A-S-Y there Xroads......

Big Eye, shoulda been there...his fish were biting.....emoPoke

Why have they quit fishing Wormhook?? They could have at least come down and run the hospitality boat for us!! I could have used some HOT chocolate Saturday.
