I am not getting an accurate depth reading while running. I installed a shoot thru transducer in the bilge area. My first attempt was not successful, I installed with slow cure epoxy. I must have gotten some air bubbles under it. I took it back out and reinstalled using clear silicone caulk. It works better than it did , but still gives some crazy readings sometimes while running. Has anyone else had this problem ? The boat is a Ranger 370V.
Thanks

The best way to address problems with a shoot thru the hull transducer, is to take the boat on the water and find a spot in the hull that gives you the best image. Hull thickness can play a big part in clarity and hulls can have thin or thick spots.

Thanks for the reply DJ. What should my expectations be on how well this will read ? With the correct install should it give accurate readings at all speeds ?

One thing that is often mentioned is to not put the transducer (inside or out) in line with a Strake on the bottom. i.e. find a spot that is flat on the bottom of the hull and align with that. Seems that the Strake causes bubbles.

I recently added an outside T'ducer on my tinny. I had inaccurate readings. I've moved it over to align with a No-Strake area. I have not had a chance to run it on plane yet, though.

Yes, should be good at all speeds; the rake mentioned above is also a good suggestion; although most bass boat pads are flat; if not go to the side of any "v" on the bottom
