Has anyone compared the original Helix to the new Helix G2N ? Does the new model show a lot more detail in the sonar mode. I have the Helix 7 now . I am looking to upgrade.

Thanks

Yes, Mega imaging is significantly better than SI; they are making two Models for 2017 in the 7 series, G2 and G2N. The G2N model can be networked with any other G2N model whereas the G2 does not have network capability. The new G2 and G2N models both have a faster processor to help with the mapping lag we saw in the first generation and a better image.

I've got a Helix 9 gen1 at the bow and a new 10 gen2 at the console, and the Mega Imaging is a huge difference in clarity in DI, SI, and 2D sonar with the chirp. The reason I went with a gen1 at the bow was because I'm wanting to use it strictly for 360 imaging. The Mega Imaging just doesn't seem to be that useful at the bow IMO, but is worth the money at the console, because that is where you spend most of the time graphing and marking waypoints.
