Hey everyone. I'm new to the Chattanooga area and love to fish, but unfortunately, I don't own a boat :( Anybody know of any good bank fishin spots on the river or a lake that a guy can wet a line and hook a few Cats? Any fish will do though, haven't been out this year and I'm gettin antsy...I would greatly appreciate any tips! Thanks alot.

Not sure what part of town you are in, but most of the parks, have good fishing as far as bream and such. Not so sure about goin after the cats.
I drool over all the big ones these guys here catch but I think all of them are by boat. Will be interesting to see someone post on where one mite catch some of them big ones from the bank.
Welcome to Chattanooga and the CFF

i always see people catch good ones when I am down at the river park catching bait. I don't know why though the water is pretty shallow unless you are right at the boils.

Welcome to CFF.

You came to the right place for what you need. If you want to catch nice Catfish from the bank I can help you there. Later on in the summer when the water warms a little more and the cats move up (Wait... They may be in there now) Go to the upper side of Chichamauga Dam at the boat launch area. There is a pier on the right before you get to the ramp. Not the one facing the river, the one in the cove. There is a deep channel within casting distance straight off the end where a friend on mine slays the cats. Boats coming and going is the only drawback but he does very well with it. There are many bluegill and bass along the rip-rap there.

WELCOME to the forum and the area! I've lived many places, and have always thought that this part of the country was the best!

There are a variety of fish that can be caught from just about anywhere you can get to the water! I'm no "xpert", but if you get the line wet, you can catch something.

Grab a lake map and you can find plenty of locations where you can easily reach deep and shallow water any time of year...get out there and find you a honey hole! Keep reading the forum...

I go out on the bank a couple of times a week, and in the boat once or twice a week, so let me know and we might walk a bank together...the last 3 fish I've caught over 3 lbs were from the bank, not my boat...go figure!

emoWelcome to the forum from the drumking. I'll be glad to take you in the boat if I ever get it back from the shop. Sounds like you like to target smaller cats like I do. emoGeezer
