Hey all. I found this forum about a month a go and recognized it's value immediately. I have searched the report forum trying to get a little info on the area and have decided to join and intro myself. Hopefully I can add some reports that will be beneficial also, though so far I have done nothing but soak my line.

Anyway I moved here from Atlanta (thank god I finally got out of that hell hole) last March but didnt get a chance to do any fishing til this spring. Now I got my boat and am ready to find the honey holes. I remember driving I-24 for years and thinking everytime I'd cross Nickajack "I'm gonna fish that someday." Well someday is here. Fate has placed me in South Pittsburg right on the river, which seems to be about as close to heaven as I can be as a fish-aholic.

Anyway I thought I'd intro myself. Just another guy who loves to fish.

emoWelcome Glad you decided to join! There is alot of great info to be found on here! Not to mention some outstanding people!emoToast

Thanks for all the welcomes. I look forward to getting to know the people here and the good fishing on the TN side of Gville. I am located just below the big blue bridge. If anyone cares to share some of the better known spots (I know I don't stand a chance on your lesser known) I sure would appreciate it. I have found on the fishfinder what looks like some good holes on the unchanneled side of the island just north of me. No fish though accept lots of dead threadfin everywhere. emoConfused Whats up with that too? Is there something about the fish in the river I should be concerned about? I am seeing hundreds of dead fish.

Anyhows thanks for all the welcomes. emoSmile

The best way to get aquainted is to join us next Saturday for our CFF Tournament on Nickajack. You'll meet alot of extremely ugly people but they're all great guys. Welcome aboard.

Those Shad your seeing may be coming through the Dam. There are 10s of thousands of them dead on Nickajack lake. When they are pulling water, you cant beat the fishing below Nick. Dam.

from the MadBomber!  The east side of that island is spot heaven!  Tons of blowdowns.   White spinnerbaits & buzzbaits!!!

Welcome Fishdreamer !!

I just found the forum recently also. I think it's the best fishing forum anywhere. Great sharing, no trash, and members really try to help each other.

BTW, I was born and raised in Atlanta. I always promised myself that when I was grown I would find a place a lot less crowded and (shall I say) safer. I moved to the Chattanooga area over 30 years ago and have claimed Tn as my home ever since.

You have Guntersville on one side and Nick on the other, with the river in the middle. What more could a man want !!emoSmile

Welcome to South Pittsburg Too !!

Thanks again everyone for the great welcome. Ya'll sure seem like a friendly bunch.
As for that tourney Saturday I am afraid I'm not ready for that yet. I need to get a livewell system setup in my boat. I have a runabout because I need to be able to seat more than two people. So I am converting it over to a "fish and everythingelse too".
Maybe I'll try to drop by and meet some of ya though after. Where is Shell Mound?

The picnic sounds great. I am sure we can make it to that.
Again thanks for all the welcomes and if anyone has ever rigged up a livewell on a runabout I'll take any suggestions. I am thinking about under one of the seats in front of the windshield with a bilge pumping from the well through some kind of aerator. Not sure if that will work though if I'm not bringing freshwater in.

Thanks again for the welcomes from all and thanks for the info MadBomber. If it ever warms up I will be up by that island. What about the Sequatchie river? Is it navigatable where it comes into the river? I would think if I could get up in there there'd have to be some waiting for me there.

Welcome

I just recently joined also. I live just up the road a piece form you in Jasper and I frequently fish down river. You may want to consider buying an Alabama license because there is some really good fishing down around Bridgeport on both sides of the island. I hope to see you out there this summer.

Your posts and info are just as much help than anyone elses, Keep em coming and welcome to the forum. There are many wonderful people who communicate on here, you'll enjoy it. emoWelcome
