I went back out tonight with a buddy of mine that doesnt fish that often looking for big green bass once again. But when you mix 2 bad fisherman you dont always get what you want but maybe what you need? (per the Rolling Stones). We were back on a point in CFSP and I made mention of this beaver that was swimming abound the bank to my friend. All of a sudden my line TAKES OFF. I had to get my trolling motor after the fish or it was going to spool me. After about 10 minutes I thought I may have a big cat on but still wasnt sure as it was pitch black and I had 14# test on. I began to think that the fish was going to break the line and what a shame it would have been if my buddy didnt get to feel the fight so I handed the rod over.

Once I did everything tightened up on him and NOTHING MOVED/ I was sure he had hung us up on the bottom. I grabbed the rod and started plucking it like a banjo when it started screaming again. I gave it back to my friend and he fought it the rest of the way to the boat. Once we were able to see it it was a stripe. I have never hooked into a stripe that I know of or have seen. This is the first one I have landed and with help of a friend made for a fun night. BUT, I dont own a scale or tape measure, so..... Ive got the fish pressed on my chest, im not holding it out (Im about 5'10). Was is your guestimate on this fish? I said 30# just from the weight of it, but a buddy of mine says there isnt a 30#er in CFSP.

What do you all think?

RE: Help size this fish!

Geez Man! Is all you catch BIG FISH?!?!?!?!

I'd say 20lb. Could be wrong..never held one that big..LOL! Next time measure the girth and length.

Are you thinking of joining a Bass Trail this year? We would love to have you! PM me if you want some info.

RE: Help size this fish!

You've got to get a scale, man! There is nothing worse than constantly wondering what the fish 'might have' weighed. I'd guesstimate it to be in the mid-20s. Some of our avid rock fishermen might be able to make more of a educated guess at it.

Yea, i would say 20ish. What did you catch him on?? The fish in my picture on my profile is a 27 pound stripe, and he was as long as my legs and i'm right at 6 foot.

I estimate around 20...but thats just a guess and beside the point...Looking at the overall situation we have here Hooker771, I figure your on the fish so good you need to go every night this week...maybe even call in sick a day or so!

Awesome fish Hooker. I'd say 20-25lbs but I don't really know. While Hooker was busy chasing that big stripe around me and my cousin were out catching good largemouth again. I had actually planned on fishing with Hooker tonight but my cousin would not have it. He want to jerk on some of those big largemouth that we have been catching. Anyway, we fished from 6:30 till 9:00pm around Harrison Bay. Spinnerbaits and 1/4 oz jigs is what caught the fish tonight. I'm still suprised not to see any boats out here besides Hooker and I. Tonight was a little tougher, we only had 3 keepers, big fish was a 6lber caught on the jig by my cousin. Here's a pic from my cell phone if it works. Sorry to jump on your post Drew. Just tought people would want to know there still biting after dark.

I was going to post your pics after I saw your first post didnt work!

BUT FELLAS, Seriously I am no fisherman! Like I told Ryan the other night after catching those fish, im may be the luckiest guy youve ever met. BBass I appreciate the invite, but that is the last thing that I am qualified for. Like I said, we fished for 3 hours and that was the only fish that I lucked into.

Thank you though!emoRedface

I honestly believe that fish would rather die than to have been caught!

My guess would be 24 lb, my son caught a 20 lb stipe at Carter's lake. I thought that was great of you letting your friend help fight the fish. When I hook a good one, I immediately ask my 12 year old son if he wants to pull it in.

Back to the report... We were throwing 3/8 and 1/2 oz black and blue spinner baits with big gold CO blades all night. I didnt have one bump other than this fish and we fished basically the same patterns as the night before. My friend did have 2 nice sized fish on for a minute but he tends to get excited and its almost like he is constantly setting the hook when he is reeling them in. emoLaugh emoBang He is getting better and I was able to convince him to just hold on to the stripe and reel when the opportunity presented itself.

But im with Rrigsby, where was everyone last night. May have been the perfect night to get out from 5-9. Not one other trailer in CFSP other than me and Ryan!

Good fish Hooker ... nice report. I bet it was thrilling. I have to admit as I was first reading your post I thought you were going to tell me you hooked up with that beaver!

That is why I mentioned the beaver! I had never hooked a stripe before so I wasnt thinking stripe. I seriously thought I had the beaver emoLaugh emoEek emoEek emoEek emoHungry emoHungry ?

Dang that's a big fish! Looks like your playing some mean air guitar with it, could it be some flashback to the 80's.
That fish looks bigger than my 7yr old and he weights about 50 lb..
Take the advise on getting some scales. Also, don't get the ones that take batteries, there always dead when you need them.

Again, Great fish!
