I am visiting Soddy Creek from 3/28-4/2 and plan to do some bass fishing. I am looking to rent a boat for the week instead of trailering my boat for 10 hour. Can anyone give me some help with...

1. Where can I rent a boat for the week.

2. Any good local tackle shops.

3. How is the fishing in the creek or will I need to head to the main lake?

As far as a bass boat to rent I haven't a clue.Harbor lights marina rents pontoon boats. Just a mile away from Holly Circle boat ramp in Soddy creek is Soddy Custom Tackle the best around. The creek can be good but be prepared for a very crowded lake.

Thanks Flipper!! When you say crowded are you saying recreational boaters crowded or fisherman crowded? Is chick weedy or a rocky lake. Most of the lakes on ohio are salad bowl weedy with limited rocks and ledges.

Even if you could rent a boat, wouldn't that be real expensive for 5 days? Probably 1,000 bucks or so. ?? Whereas, it may cost you around 30 bucks more for gas to haul your boat. Maybe use some of that money and hire a guide for your 1st day or 2. ? Soddy Creek is a popular diverse spot to fish but is generally very clear. Either way I'd plan fishing main lake bluffs, transitions and pockets. And other creeks like Sale and Possum. Break it up. Good luck!

right now the lake is covered up with fishermen, and the grass hasn't got growing yet. You might want to visit the lake in north carolina that has put out 2 40 pound bags in 7 days. Lake shearon harris.

Thanks Silvertalon. I have some buddy going with me so we are splitting the costs. I am travel 10 hours and really don't want to drive through the mountains pulling a 20ft boat. But I may need to reconsider.

Gone Fishing. My sons is playing in a baseball tournament at Hixson High School during the week, so Soddy Creek seemed to be the best spot to still watch baseball and fish during our downtime. But he is only a freshman so we will be returning to the area for the next 3 years. Is there a better more convenient place to stay, close to Hixson and catch some fat bass??

anywhere on the chick is good, I was just busting your balls. We have alot of people on the lake now and its crazy. When you get here the water should be warming back up a little.

Gone Fishing, if TN is anything like Ohio we have tons of recreational boaters/jet skis on public water and they have no consideration for anyone fishing until they catch a spinnerbait in the head.

You should just hire fishinvol as he is a quality guide on the lake. He will put you on fish and you won't have to worry about a boat or tackle.
