Calling all puter gurus here!

Heres the scoop. I have a system hardwired though a DSL modem, and a Linksys wireless router. I also have two systems with the recievers installed in them. When I first hooked this up, it was great, running both of my other systems really well. Shortly after though, it started getting very intermitant on the two wireless units. The signal(?) now comes and goes with no ryme or reason. The hardwired unit is in my office about 75' away from the other 2. Any ideas? I really dont want to run wires to them, as I dont use the phone in the house, and will never use it that much in the future. I dont want to spend money for another modem either, and that would mean running wires under the house for that! FYI, the router is new as I got a call a couple months ago that the router was "dead". Went to Wally World, and bought another, only to find out it was unplugged a little bit, so now I have two of them!

Spur, call the 800 number that is with your router, the people there will walk you thru the installation. You may need to reposition the base unit or receiving units, something is interfering with the signal. A wireless phone, a tv, a radio, a fax machine, a microwave, etc. could be in the way.

Wireless router issues is really hard to diagnose unless your looking at them, but first go to the manufactures web site, see if there is any software upgrades for the router, then if there were and you installed them, then reset the router, and the dsl modem. If issue still unresolved ,... did you buy any cordless phones or any other new electronic devices, any thing electric that has changed since the router first installed ? if so try unplugging the new phone etc to see if signal improves.
All kinds of things interfere with wireless signals, brick walls, metal stud in walls, but if worked fine for a while .. then you will have to track down what has changed. It may even be a neighbor that bought something new that uses a similar signal as your router!?!?

Lynksys has the best service of any company I have ever dealt with. I have one that is way out of warranty and have called numerous times for various reasons. They have solved every one of them and quickly too. Sometimes you have to speak with Achmed but they will find your problem. I seriously doubt it is an interferance problem. I stay in dozens of motels that have wifi and rarely have a problem even though the transmitter is hundreds of feet away through several walls and who knows what kind of electronic devices in between. Give them a call Erik 800-326-7114

Linksys is good stuff, good support.

If you can't get it worked out, give me a call at the office (756-4980) and we can talk about what you have going on. I have some knowledge in this area.

A cordless phone operating at 2.4 MH will interfere with a wireless router which operates at the same frequency. I had to buy 5.8 MH cordless phones to fix my problem.

Well after fighting with the connection again, I finally broke-down and bought a signal repeater. Figured it was plug-n-play??? Wrong!

I even read the directions, and still had no luck.

Called linksys for help. After 2.5 hrs on the phone they decide I have a defective repeater. Take it back for exchange, and again, no luck. I call back, and spend another 2 hours on the phone. They tell me they will reproduce the situation in their lab, and call me back the next day. Got the call back, and after another 59.5 minutes got it working.
