ATLANTA — Northwest Georgia-based Mohawk Industries has reached an $18 million settlement with some employees who claimed the company hired illegal immigrants to hold-down wages. About 48,000 current and former workers will share in the award from one of world's largest carpet makers. An attorney for Mohawk said the company does not admit wrongdoing in closing the book on the six-year-old lawsuit.

That's right! Sue the hell out of the companies and individuals that are hiring illegals, and turning a blind eye in favor of profits! Problem solved.

I love it!!! My uncle lost his job because of illegals getting paid under the table. He got paid by check at the end of the week and they got paid with an envelope full of cash.

I love the idea of what they did and know it's not the money thats the issue, but that only comes out to $375 appeice. Not worth what it cost to have your job stolen.

actually, if the lawyer got 30% and the rest went to 48,000 people, that is less than $300. I'm sure the lawyer had a soft spot & charged only 10%.
I think the lawyer owned the carpet company through an sCorp, and he won twice. just kidd'n.
It's a shame that Americans are having to become a nation of snitches, that's what Adolf did, turned everyone into a snitch to catch the ones who disagreed with their agenda.
The federal governemnt has let the citizens down only to get the votes to keep those same politicians in power. Politicians do not want to upset a block of people, who could over throw the ability to get the politician elected.
WELL, guess what Americans, it's time to THROW 'EM out. Alexander has had his shot and FAILED Miserably, he is with ALGORE, Duncan is still hanging in there , voted #5 as most consevative. Corker is standing up & being noticed.

Put up a fence guard it 24/7 problem solved......

It would be a lot easier and cheaper to sue, fine and publically humiliate the ones putting them to work. We have this problem because business, industry, and individuals seek to maximize profits at the expense of the rest of us. We pay for their healthcare, social services, and education while those that hire them laugh all the way to the bank. As long is there is a job for illegals they will find a way here. Solve the problem at the cause, not the effect. Just another example of how Libertairian policies don't work in the real world.

You're right, the small settlement check is hardly worth losing your job. The bigger point is to bring things like this out into the open so we can see who is actually responsible for the imigration problem. It's simple economics.... no jobs... no illegals.

Maybe we should sue and publicly humiliate those bleeding heart liberals that make us pay for them and want to grant them amnesty, drivers license, etc..? They'll come Danny even if there's no jobs for these exact reasons. They can steal and rob enough people to get by with 5 families living in a small shack or a cardboard box. I do agree with you thoughthat companies that employ these illegals should be punished. </p>

heres a thought...most come through Texas right. Make them wear horns on their heads or feathers and have turkey and deer season open all year long....problem solved! Everythings bigger in Texas.

Your wrong and here is why. One thing the gov't actually has the constitutional authority to do is to protect our borders. Our entitlement society is a big reason they come here as well as jobs. Think about it as soon as an illegal has a child in our country it is a legal citizen just like you and I. It can get Medicaid, food stamps, SS benefits. For an illegal immigrant that has nothing in their country what have they got to lose. Our poor are some of the richest people in the world. So the gov't shares just as much or more blame for illegal immigration than business. If they are not here in the first place they can't be hired.

"We in Arizona have been more than patient waiting for Washington to act," Brewer said. "But decades of federal inaction and misguided policy have created a dangerous and unacceptable situation."
