I'm hearing a lot about a guy down that way that builds custom rods. Can any of you tell me his name and or a contact number? How about prices of his rods and reports/reviews?

His name is Joe's Custom Rods. I use to know his number but I lost it. I have three of his rod and for the price, there not that bad. I bought mine at the fishing show in Knoxville and paid $100 each. That was his show price and I think they go for $120.

i should have also mentioned that John Miles supplied 3 first class rods for the maddie bennifit tourny we had.
if you do talk to him and buy a few rods from him let him know you are a CFF member.
i'm sure he would appreciate it.

And let's not forget FA. Who donate's at about every thing the CFF has! And he can make a heck of a rod.

Joe Burns is a good guy and makes a good lookin and good feelin rod. I have 12 of his rods. Thats pretty much all i use. just tell him what you are lookin for and he can do it.

I know both John and Joe you can't go wrong with either ones rods. John I believe is who Joe learned from. I know a lot of people who uses Joes rods and like them very much. His prices are very reasonable. I would lean in Joes direction if I was having one built for me. He has tied some St. Croix blanks for me.

Do those guys just do graphite rods or can they do fiberglass ones too? I'd like a custom fiberglass rod. I got a Cabelas E-Glass rod that is probably one of the best fiberglass rods I've thrown. It's an 8' medium heavy but it is heavy in itself...would like a lighter weight one. That's a big jump though from a $20 rod to a $120 one. LOL.

john miles does a great job with glass rods i wanted a heavy duty catfish rod and he made me with an e-glass blank. like all of his rods its very well done.

You might be able to find a slightly lighter one, but it is still going to be very heavy compared to graphite. Just the nature of glass (E- or S-).

I have known Joe since our Dixie Youth baseball days. I go to church with John. I only fish John's rods. Both have donated rods for door prizes to CATCH Ministry. It is my understanding that John taught Joe, which is not what the earlier response stated. If you see Joe's they look alot like John's. I don't think you can go wrong with either. Both are former sporting goods store owners and know how to take care of customers. Joe has rods on display at Smoky Mountain Tackle in Cleveland. John has made rods for Fulmer, Bush #1, and at least 4 pros, but I'm sre who they are.
