Started out as a typical pre-spawn day on the river; overcast with a chilly breeze and main channel temp of 49. After idling across several cove mouths and hauling water, we found an area of dingy water along a rocky shore with a temp of 53. Ended up catching twenty-something, a mix of mainly spots with an occasional LM, by targeting dingy water adjacent to rip-rap. We started with spinnerbaits assuming the shad bite would be on, but after no takers switched to craw patterned cranks and soft plastics. Oddly enough, the spots preferred a Bandit 300 in Spring Craw while the LM would only bite a Yum Crawbug in watermelon w/red flake. Only managed one pig, a 4.7 LM on the crawbug.
