i went out today in my boat and it started great when i put in forward low trottle to get out of the no wake zone it ran great but when i punched it into high trottle it would just rev up and don't move i just got my prop rehubed could my prop still be the problem or could it be something else thanks 1989 40hp mercury 4cylinder oil injected

to ck hub slipping, remove prop and scribe intersecting lines on outer hub as well as inner hub at the same place. run the boat and remove prop and see if your lines move

Sounds like a slipping hub to me, I think they use some sort of adhesive on them when they rehub, yours might have missed the glue or it wasn't set up.

I agree with the hub, mark it and re-check it ,lets hope its that, most everything elce is really exspencive to fix when the motor is running fine but your not getting power out the back...is the lower unit making any noise??

Also this is just a thought ,,,was the motor trimmed down all the way ,, might have been cavitating,, I do that sometimes when I think the motor is all the way down when its not..revs like the dickens but the boat doesent go ...

Puddle.
