After reading the other thread, it got me thinking. My wife and I like to hike and camp. Is there a good place I can take the boat, beach it, and have a nice hike and over night tent camping? Nice overlooks? Waterfalls? Canyons? Anything?

Calderwood Lake is my all time favorite. Tie up at the mouth of Slickrock Creek and hike up to the falls.</p>

Big Creek on Ocoee River comes in right across from newest whitewater take out. A long hike up takes you to the old damned up water reservoir that served the steam driven trains going to Copper Hill. Used to drive there in the 60's and camp and catch trout from Big Creek and the reservoir. Forest service closed the road from the Sylco side 30 years ago. You can fish Big creek all the way up to the old reservoir but it is steep and extremely dangerous in places (slipping and falling and dying dangerous, I did it once alone but never again) "If you're gonna be dumb you gotta be tough kind of climb" you may be the only ones to fish it in 20 years. You can stay off the creek and follow the old maintenance road to the top. Highly recommend taking a small chain saw. This is totally different and miles and miles from Big Creek @ FS221. Panther Creek just off Abram's Creek off 129 along Chilhowee Lake. Accessible by canoe or boat. Sight of old Narrow gauge RR track. Hike for an hour and a half past where the weenies fish and then start fishing for brook trout. My go-to rod was a 4'7" Fenwick.
