Ok, so Joker Phillips was the first coaching casualty. Just one of which that was thought to be in the 'ol cross hairs. So now we know that Ky. is looking along with Ak. That's two schools. I think that we can say that Auburn / Gene Chizik, Tn. / Derek Dooley and possibly Tx. / Mack Brown, could {?} join that musical chair, merry go round of coaches very soon. Hypothetically speaking, forecasting and prognosticating at will, and you may even use your crystal ball if it's back form the dry cleaners. Who would be your top 5 candidates to hire and for what school? Now be realistic. This is not a day dreamers wish list. In other words, I don't think that the likes of Jon Gruden, Bill Cowher, or Bill Bilicheck are realistic or viable candidates. You are now the new Athletic Director with the check book in hand. How much are you willing to pay and for whom?

Kirby Smart, Jeff Fisher, Bill Snyder, Dabo Swinney, and If I were AD I would be going after Gruden. Let me tell you Earl how it's a possibilty, Three people Haslam, the Dish network man and Gruden's wife. I have heard from a pretty good source that Haslam and the dish man have made it clear that the money will be there. Gruden makes about 4 million a year and the offer I have heard blows that out of the water. They said Nick wouldn';t coming to Alabama but money has a way of changing people's minds. If Tennessee wants a quick fix Gruden is the only person I see that could make that happen. You can scheme x's and o's all you want but if you ain't 3 deep in stud's you ain't going to win many races. Gruden could and would compete with ole Nicky for all them race horses. Also Gruden is a Coach and he has that desire to compete and setting up in a booth with has beens and wannabe's might not be fueling that inner urge.

Hadn't heard of Charlie Ergen (Dish) being involved. I played basketball with Charlie at Oak Ridge and he is a UT alum. He definitely has the funds and Dish is a big UT sponsor. Hope UT doesn't make a move unless they have a rock star coach lined up.

Most all the coaches will be hired thru Jimmy Sexton. One thing will determine who goes where, MONEY and lots of it. If Texas is searching, they will get first pick. I would think the Vols and AU would bid on the next one.

Texas will go after Muschamp

Here are some hot names. Brian Kelly, Chip Kelly, Gary Patterson, Brian Peterson, Mark Stoops, Kirby Smart, Kyle flood, Charlie Strong, Tommy Tuberville, and Bobby Petrino. But how who would move and for how much?

There have been serious talks with Jon Gruden and UT. I understand the money and length of contract has been agreed on. The thing that is holding up the deal is the amount of control Gruden will have. The way things are set up in Knoxville right now will not work. There is a Board of Trustees meeting on Friday. This meeting is to attempt to change the structure of things at UT. IF this gets done it will free up the last stumbling block for a deal with Gruden. Man I hope they can work this out. GO VOLS. I really dont care what the rest of the teams do. emoLaugh

NFL.COM reports tonight that Gruden may indeed have some interest in coaching again. The article goes on to say that he would only be interested in coaching a "Large market team" (Knoxville doesn't fit that description) and that he's scoping out NFL assistants that may be available. However, Saban did lie through his teeth for weeks before showing up at Alabama.

I think 2 pluses for Gruden are that his wife attended Tennessee and was a cheerleader, and his daughter now attends the school.

The team that hires Gary patterson will get the best coach available to coach a SEC team. JMO

... looks like little Lame Kitten may be available after USC cans his butt! Your the pre season No.1 and get three huge transfers and then loose 4 games!? Maybe Tennessee can get him back. He's done such a marvelous job everywhere he's been! What a resume!

Ain't that the truth, I could lose and screw things things up for 4 million a year. Some dumb ass will hire him.
