After all the surface action I experienced through the week below the dam, I was eager to give it a shot from a boat. However, the water level on the Hiwassee was down by two feet and the temp was back up in the low 80s. We found several bait balls on the edge of the channel in about 12-15ft but none had bass under them. So it was the usual routine of flipping to laydowns. We spent the majority of the day at the mouth of Gunstocker and, with the water level down, we were able to find a few crappie brushpiles we had never seen. I caught quite a few largemouth in the 2.5-3lbr range with a Booyah black-n-blue jig but never found the active bass I was hoping for.
