So back when I started fishing for bass, about the only place I went was the Hiwassee. I can remember mornings in the winter when I would get there that the entire lot was full at 58 and they were all crappie guys. I'd always be the lone bass guy. So, one day I finally decided to do the crappie thing. When we got there it was packed. We got out to the main river and there were like 30 boats side by side up the main bar and they were all catching them. We pulled in between a couple guys and went to catching them. The guys beside us said they had caught 200 before 12pm they day before. This was about 8 years ago and since then I've never really seen them out there like that.

Just wondering from you crappie guys if this still happens in the fall/winter. It's nice to get off these bass every once in a while and catch some good slabs.

They're still there. Not quite as good as it used to be but the numbers have been replaced with quality. Can't get limits as easily I used to, but I don't put a fish in the live-well unless its 12" or better. Had a 16"er this year. I still piddle with bass from time-to-time, but my passion has shifted to Crappie and Walleye
