sorry so late to post a report, been out of town but i fished the hiwasee last wed from about 8 till noon, fished right out from towee creek above the white water from a float tube on the railroad track side of the river, caught 11 rainbow and one brown, i was using white wooly bugger, emergers on a dropper with a nymph tied on. all the fish were mostly between 10-12", the brown being the smallest fish at 9". still had a great time, what beautiful scenery!

Its about 45 min to an hour depending on traffic, and how fast you drive, from Hixson. The water is ice cold even in late summer. In August as you aproach the stream the air temp drops a good 10 degrees as you get on the stream bank. I used to go over there and fish pretty regular, got tired of only catching little 9-12" trout (occasionally a 2-3 lber ) when you can catch more and bigger fish in the TN river. It is pretty over there but Id rather find a river like that that has good population of smallmouth bass too, then Id be more willing to go for trout with the chance of catching a good size smallmouth as well as trout on a fly.

The Hiwassee is fishin pretty good right now. I was out on the water from 8am-1pm yesterday with a friend and we probably boated somewhere around 40 or so. The fish are eating very well right now, we took fish on dry fly's, streamers, and nymphs. It should just keep getting better throughout the winter, but who knows.
