Decided to try and stick one yesterday. Went to one of my favorite ground blinds and set up to wait out a nice morning. Got there about 6:50 and waited for first light. Sguirrels everywhere for the first couple hours but no deer. Finally at 9:15 I caught the first movement of a deer just over a little rise in front of me. It was a big doe just walking along feeding. She was angling towards me so I got ready and waited. She came within 20 yards but as crazy as it may sound I could not get a clear shot every time she stopped.emoDoh Just as she got out of my range I saw another deer coming up quickly to catch up, it was a very young yearling so I was sure glad she never got clear. About fifteen minutes later I heard a squirrel going off and zeroed in on that area. Sure enough like clockwork here comes two more deer. They both were full size with the one in the lead a little larger. As they came within range they were both does.emoScratch Don't know where the buck were that day. I got ready to shoot and the lead deer winded me. She started stomping her front feet and looking around trying to find me. They finally circled around and came in even closer but I was out of the wind towards them so they must have thought they were in the clear. The lead deer at about 30 yards hit a clear opening and I let one fly. The arrow looked true and good. When it got there I thought for sure I had hit her. She about did a summersault, tucked her tail and hauled butt. I waited for fifteen minutes and went to where my arrow should have been. No arrow could I find. No blood, no hair, nothing. I looked for over an hour and never found the first sign of a hit. I can't help but think the arrow stayed in her and she is going to feed the local critters. Maybe I missed but from the way she acted I do not think so. I hope I missed,....I hate wounding a deer. It is bound to happen but that doesn't make it feel any better.emoBawl Jmax
