Hot Foot ?

If you feel you need two hands on the wheel primarily based on the speed capability and handling of your rig, a Hot Foot is in order to increase your boating safety. They start about $100 plus the cables and installation. Fish-N-Fun can price one for you.

Once you have one, you won't want to go without one. I don't see any cons.

Once you have a hotfoot you will never have another boat without it. So much safer because o
it allows you to have two hands on the wheel. I think they are like 100 bucks and pretty easy to install yourself

Plus, if you get thrown from the boat without a kill switch (for whatever reason) the motor goes back to idle.

What do the cables cost? Whats the difference between the top hook up and the older kind ?Which is prefered ?

I don't know what a cable costs but the over the top model is mainly used for aluminum boats like mine. I found mine on e-gay a couple of years ago for $65.00 shipped and had Nichols install it for $100.00 including the cable.

So much easier to drive when both hands are on the wheel.

Cables are around $25-30 depending on length. You will love having one. Makes it more like driving your car instead of a boat.

I have always ran the "older" ones. The new top loaders are designed for the Optimax and Ficht engines and utilize a idle stop for them where the older hot foots did not have a idle stop, but it will still work on the older engines. Another factor for the top loader, is the cable does not move that much because the working angle has been changed. Most boats this is not a issue.
