Does anyone have experience with this? By looking at the Navionics site it appears that this software can be used on a PC to plan a fishing trip and then upload the desired route/waypoints to my 798.

I'm curious as to the detail and accuracy of this software and whether the info will transfer easily to my HB. Any info will be appreciated.

emoThanks

I have it. It is very easy to mark points. It lets you name and rename points from your unit. You get the same detail as on the unit but much larger.

I have the NavPlanner 2 software and it has all of the high def lakes in the US included. Simple to install and to use. Get the same detail on your computer as do on your boat GPS without having to use a chip with your computer. Save waypoints on your computer, download to a sd card, and upload to your boat GPS.

emoThanks for the info! I was looking at the NavPlanner 2 also. Seems like it has more lakes than the Explorer, but costs $129.00! Kinda tough to let go of that kind of cash without knowing much about it. Does it have to run off the CD or can it be saved to the hard drive and on more than one computer?

It will run off the hard drive......I have the Explorer. If you need a great deal of the lakes in high definition that Navplanner has then let go of that money. However, you can get Explorer and buy those high def lakes as you need them... they are available for purchase but if you are going to do buy a great several lakes then going with Navplanner is the best way.

I found Explorer best fit my fishing.....but the interfaces seem to be the same...

I ended up getting HotMaps Premium East. Navionics is offering free PC mapping software and a year's worth of updates. Those little extras swayed me to get the card for my HB unit. Thanks for the input though.
