I'm a newbie here. I live in south Huntsville, about 20 min from Guntersville dam. My hubby lives near Ooltewah for for work. He works at ProX, He's the new Mercury marine technician!

I'll be up visiiting him for the 4th of July weekend and since he has to work on Saturday :( , I want to fish :) . Can anyone reccomend any good places to fish off the back within a 30 min drive of Ooltewah? I don't really care what I fish for, I just like to fish!

Oh, are there any weird laws here about fishing or whay you can or can't keep, type of bait, etc?

You'll need a Tennessee license of course. No limit on Bream that I'm aware of. Like Guntersville, the limit on Largemouth is 15", Spots 12", and Smallmouth 18",. Harrison Bay State Park has large areas around the marina where you can fish from the bank and it's a 15 minute drive (tops) from Ooltewah. No restrictions on the type of lures or bait. Tennessee outlawed dynamite years ago though. Still mad about that.

Thanks everyone for the welcomes! I had never fished with lures before moving to Huntsville 3.5 years ago or fished for a specific sepcies. I grew up on the Chesapeake bay and ate pretty much what ever we caught. crabs, eel, perch, rock fish (love rock fish!). It's been a lot of fun learning a new way.
