I have been blessed enough to get back on the water in the past week, and with good luck catching quantities of bass. Unfortunately, I have been lucky enough to only catch one "bragging" fish, and that was in hurricane winds.

Here is my synopsis on how to catch small fish this time of year...

Nickajack - Great luck catching large numbers of bass on flats next to deep water throwing spinnerbaits, crankbaits, and chatterbaits. As water warms the fish should start moving up on these flats and the catch size increase.

Chickamauga - Have caught quite a few fish in the past week on spinnerbaits, but two largest fish at around 2 pounds apiece were caught on jerkbait in royal shad on hump in 12 feet of water. Most of the places I fish in the summertime have no water on them right now.

Riverpark - Dad and I were able to catch a large quantity of small spots fishing crankbaits and spinnerbaits off of rip rap over the weekend. The majority were in 4-8 feet of water, but a few were caught around the barge tie-offs on the river. Areas I normally fish have been killed with fishing pressure.

Hopefully this might help someone wanting to take their kids out and just catch a bunch of fish, not necessarily concerned about the size.
