As most of you have seen the post "Pics of old man101 blown V-6"

This is a 86 GT 150 that looks to have overheated from either a lack of fuel and/or lack of water. While it is down he want a "LITTLE MORE" as most people do. So while it is down we are modifing this in the hopes of somewhere in the neighbor hood of 220HP. This is not out of reach as with the X-flows the internals are the same and blocks have a few differnt port maps. The 150/175 blocks are the same just a carbs are the only different and a 200 has different porting usually with a 1 5/16 throat carbs same as the 175's, but the 200's and 235'shave intake stuffers due to high port heights. We have them for this project. The GT/XP 150's are actually 175 HP engines due to carb size. Mostof the time they have a 1 3/8 carb which is larger than the 175's and 200's. the 1 3/8 carbs areusually found on the 235's. We have a set of 76 200 heads coming. These are the BEST heads for this engine and are rare but I found us a set. This will help tremendously with our goal.

Here is a list of what has been done.

1. #5 has been sleeved

2. All 6 have beenbored .020 with new pro marinepistons

3. Ports have been squared like the factory 2.6 XP block. Ours is using the tighter 3/8 radius in the corners werh the XP has 1/2 radius. Heavy champhering of port has been don to keep from "HANGING" a ring.

4. Exhaust ports have been raised from 1.700 to 1.600 from the deck of the block. The intakes have been raised from 2.143 to 2.120. This is the port specs from a 82 200. The block is now a 200 block. That simple.

5. The block has been decked .020 to clean up warping from overheat. Pisons are still below the deck.

6. Rough casting has been cleaned up and smoothed. Still leaving the needed "rough" finish.

We are awaiting the heads and jets. Will let you guys know how this V-6 carries thei 14' flatbottom.

Just kidding!!!! 18' Venture TX edition.

That is some very neat work James and you seem to know what you are doing, keep us posted on the project, it should be a screamer.

Thanks Doc!
Having my own mill sure make it easier. Since he is a GOOD FRIEND of mine I did the port work for free but he had to spend $42 for the bit and holder for me to do it. It took a 4" 3/8 end mill and a extension to reach the ports.

EVERYONE:::::: Remember there is more to porting than enlarging the port. These are know good porting specs and methodes. Don't just go grinding away at a block. It is very easy to turn a 200HP engine into a 120Hp with the wrong stuff being done. Just wanted to throw that disclaimer in!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tell ya to find a 150 block and put your stuff in it!!! The difference is the booster port. For what it would cost to machine it in, you could buy 3 blocks. Your pistons will already be cut for it, should be if 73-up. Then hope you have a set of WMK-11's if not should be able to find pretty easy. Everything else is the same. Later

you know i am getting pretty old and i do love to fish.i might not wear the fish out but i may have a little fun running up and down the lake.lol

Great pics James, seems like only yesterday mine was in pieces,Are ya letting Larry hold the tools for ya? Can't wait to see it up and running, cya soon

Wade,
NO PROBLEM!!! I like to "show and tell". Will have several projects going on. Next one on the chopping block is a 2.5 200 being ported to 260 specs. You weren't kidding about Monster cats huh!!!!!

Going to the lake tomorrow!!! Will tell you the results when it gets broke in. He works 6 days a week and likes to fish. May be 2 years before he gets his 10 hrs on it!!! LOL!

Excellent work James, we need to get yours up and on the water soon, You may have to get clearence from NASA emoLaugh Thanks for the pictures I will hook up with you soon,

James
