How to... Photoshop

I was wondering if anybody was familiar on how the pen tool and convert point tool worked in photoshop. The deal is I have a project for school that has to do with design processes, we have to design a "new" style of glass. I wanted mine to look good, and tried using PS to make the glass via a few tutorials I've found online, but I am not familiar with some of the tools I am supposed to use. emoBang PLEASE HELP!!!!Any body with advice or suggestions please comment. I use photoshop 7 ... not familiar with CS3 ... but, PS7 has those tools too. I don't know how to use them though. I just fumble around with PS and layering to create stuff in it ... sorry, I'm not much help.

Taz don't be sorry emoSmile I did think about pming you a few minutes ago b/c I figured you might have made your avatar in PS. I've played round alot but I just can't get things to work the way I expect. </p>

I have two boxes full of photoshop books and magazines, including photoshop bible. I don't have a clue on how to do any of it but I will let you have all these books for $50.00, I believe you could figure out something by reading the books. Pm me if interested.
