Read in an article about a way to get the hook out of a deep hooked fish with out causing any damage.
Have tried this many times and it works, great way to keep fish alive if you practice catch and release.
What you do is cut off about 3 to 4 feet of line above hook, then you find which side of the fish the hook
point is facing and you run the line down and out the gills on the side the hook point is facing. After you
have pulled the line tight, put some pressure on it until the hook turns and you can grab the bend of the
hook with you're pliers and gently pull it out. Released a many fish with this method and no blood at all.

Good advice ive had a bunch of fish lately swallow my c-rig and I usually just cut the hook if I can or just leave it in and release em back. Thanks for the tip!

I do that too, when I'm using just a worm hook. But using the shakeyhead jigs, you can't really do that so I have no choice but to pull the throat out and unhook it... So here's what I do, get the pliers and get their throat back in place and keep the fish in the water while I'm doing it, so they don't continously bleed. They swim off just fine as long as you don't keep em out of the water to long.</p>

Oops, double post! Good info though...
