Does anyone know who has the computer software for an HPDI?
I need to hook mine up to the software and see if im getting any error codes. I think one of my fuel filters is stopped up, just not sure which one. easiest way to check is the diagnostics, but i wasnt sure who had a computer and what they would charge to hook it up. I can buy the program for a couple of hundred bucks, just was hoping to find someone to read it for me cheaper than that. thanks

If you plan on keeping the boat, having your own software may save you $$$$ in the long run. Just a thought.

james, can you operate the software if i buy it?
also, can you remove the plugs and measure top dead center and then roll the crank to measure travel. i want to make sure my rods arent stretched.
I lost about 10 mph somewhere and i think its a clogged filter or fuel line restriction. the only way to check that is with that stupid software. if it isnt that then its something more in depth, like a stretched rod, etc.
I actually think its an easy fix like a filter or something.

Hey Jimmy did you take out the 200lbs of lead hid in the back compartment of your boat? haha Hope you can get it figured out soon though.

I checked compression and its all within about 5 lbs per cylinder.
Plugs looked good. but i changed them anyway. we also checked to see that they were getting juice and firing. they were good.
so thats why i think its an easy fix like a filter or something.

I am sure I can probably run it. You may NOT have a problem. Are you sure it is 10MPH? If you are comparing your boat to what it ran in the spring to now and it is 5MPH, then you probably don't have a issue. A engine will make more power in the spring and fall than in the summer. If you run you boat at 11PM at night you will see it picks ups some speed as well. I will try to post a chart for you.

As far as compression, I don't rely on compression. Here is a prime example why I don't........ Read ALL of this post and you will understand why. Pay close attenion to the pictures toward the bottom. http://chattanoogafishingforum.com/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=45496&posts=29&start=1

A few MPH I can see. It may be more than the 2-3 MPH they are saying. When did it start and how RPM did it drop? Here is a explaination of what happens during the summer. The very hot days we are having will have a big effect on it. Yes, this is for a mercury butALL are effected the same. If you look at a factory manual. It willhavea similiar chart.

I got most of my information from iboats forum under Yamaha HPDI. The Yamaha mechanic on that forum recommends changing the high pressure filter yearly. Personnally, I believe that is too often for an $85 filter. Also, there is a filter in the VST tank on the fuel pump that should be checked. To check my filters and pump, the local Yamaha mechanic hooked up a pressure gauge to the fitting on the VST tank and found the problem. The mechanic told me the codes did not show a low fuel pressue. Also, I bought the disk/manual on e bay for my engine. The manual is very helpful. I hope this helps.

On the yamaha's they say change all the filters and run internal cleaner thru the engine 1 time a year or every 100 hours. And also change the spark plugs during this time too..... Thanks
