The first ever Yellow Jacket Invitational high school bass tournament was held today with the GCHS Bass Team hosting White Co. and Rhea Co. The winning boat was Grundy County's Hank Lowrie and Dakota Cantrell with 5 fish for 15.24 pounds. Lucas Howell and Devin Wallis from Rhea County were second with 5 fish fo 13.54. Ty Cloyd and Isaiah Gardenhire from White County were third with 5 for 12.86. Caleb and Mikey Jenkins were fourth with 4 for 11.96 and they also had the big bass with a 3.88 largemouth. All 23 fishermen and 1 fisherwoman went home with tackle prizes or gift certificates. Thanks to Mike's Pharmacy in Tracy City for sponsoring the plaques ($150), the TN district of the National Bass Fishing Trail and Jody Castle and Castle's Outdoors in Whitwell for sponsoring the prizes. Every boat turned in fish. It was a great day on the water!

Top four teams went home with plaques (one for each angler). Winning boat got a plaque for their school. Big bass winner got a plaque. First place got 2-$50 Castle's gift certificates, 2nd and 3rd got tackle packs worth $32.50 each before tax. One for each in the boat (4). Big bass winner got a $60 reel. Remaining got a tackle pack after 2 $25 Academy Sports + Outdoors gift cards were drawn.

Would love to see more adult clubs help get some sponsors and prizes for these events. It's a great way to recruit future members.

David.
