Big L sent me this pic. of a huge carp they caught around Mud Creek last week,
on a Rattle Trap. He said it weighted over 50 lbs

i hooked one of those last sat. in mud creek also. doubt it was 50lbs. but when i set the hook he took off like a Flipper. it left a wake like a small boatemoTongue . came unbuttoned on the second jumpemoDoh. would have been fun!!!!!
 
I landed a 49 lb'er below the riverpark a few years ago on old 10 lb test line.  it bit a shiner.  I followed that big sucker around for about 30 minutes!

Is that a grass carp also called a white amur (Ctenopharyngodon idella) or a common carp (Cyprinus carpio)? Just curious. Which ever species it is, it is HUGE!

That is what I thought, but just wanted to make sure my "icthyological identification" was correct. I appreciate the verification. I am an engineer, not a biologist...

Still, a very nice fish. I would love to get one of those on my fly rod!
