Today we found a huge school of mostly white bass at the Riverpark. If anyone wants to chase these fish here is how to find them.

About 1/2 mile downriver from the Riverpark ramp you will see a subdivision of really nice houses on the right going downriver. At the end of these houses on the downstream side you will see a chain link fence. At this fence you will want to get a short cast distance from the bank and work downriver until the water depth gets to 16-20 feet and search this area down to the old stick sticking out of the rip rap about 100 feet down river. You have to have good depthfinders to locate these fish but they are there. We got them to eat small jigging spoons and shiners.

Good luck and if you chase these let me know how you do.

I fish that hole quite often - its a great spot for kids to learn to spoon fish and for CFF admins to go when they strike out and need to catch a few yellow bass emoBigsmile

.

Thanks for the offer but until I half way figure out the Chick and Nick I won't be fishing anywhere else. If you ever want to fish up this way just send me a PM.

I know that hole. You and David both showed it to me but that is the only times I have fished it. How big were the whites Michael?

I got one that was about 1.5lbs on a large jigging spoon. The other were 1lb or less. The problem we had was as soon as we figured out what presentation worked the clouds opened up. Had it not rained I think we could have gotten 20-30 of them as the school was massive and went for 30-40 feet or more down the river bank.

Going back this weekend to give them another shot with some drop shot powerminnows and gonna try a fish-head-spin.

1.5 is a respectible white. I do well on them with Little Cleos and Silver buddies too at times.
Thanks

When I was a kid we used to kill whites on Cleos (along with every other fish that swims). These fish were too deep to get a Cleo down to them with any accuracy. The small CC jiggin spoons were working but I was jiggng them like normal and Alvin figure out they just wanted the spoons to jiggle and not move vertically.

Update:

The school was nowhere to be found today (2-9-2008). Not sure if the current or the 3 degree water temperature change moved the fish but we could not find them this morning.
