Feb 23, 2012 at the BASSmaster Classic Humminbird announces the newest technology that will change the Electronics Industry and the way we fish forever. You can now see forward where you are fishing. This new system is more than just a transducer. It's a Deployment System and Imaging Dome. MSRP $1,999.00

Why?

Because for 360 Imaging to get 150' of coverage it has to be below the lowest point of the boat...lower then the outboard and trolling motor or it would block the sonar from travelling any additional distance. So the Imaging Dome needs a way to stay straight and pointing forward plus be lowered to the proper depth to get total clearance. You have it with Humminbirds 360 Imaging System. Alot of the internal components will not be discussed since this technology is Patent Pending and most do not know because they cannot release this data while the Patent Application Process takes place all we know is the "Magic" happens in the Imaging Dome.

The Shape of the Shaft had to be specially designed so the Imaging Dome did not have any lateral, horizontal or other directional movement when it was being pulled thru the water. This is why this shape of this shaft resembles and airplane wing it allows the water to be split that is hitting the shaft and reduce drag but the narrow rear side the water begins pinching the shaft from both sides to increase the stability and allows the 360 Imaging unit to be used at speed. There has been testing that has exceeded 30mph and approaching 40mph with the 360 Imaging retracted with no harm. BUT there is a built in alarm when retracted that notifies the operator that the 360 Imaging unit in down when you exceed 15mph so you can raise if you forget.

The Imaging Dome can be raised or lowered from any unit connected to the Ethernet Network or Directly to the 360 Imaging. Or there is a manual control button to operate the unit on top of the Deployment System.

The 360 Imaging is an Ethenet Accessory that is controlled and operated by Ethernet Hook-up. It can be hooked direct to a single unit or connected via a 5 Port Ethernet Hub to Multiple Units. Since the Ethernet Hubs are stackable (connect via cable to one another) the Number of Units running a Humminbird is endless you just need multiple hubs and it can be done. As of the official release only the current Ethernet Systems on the 798ci HD, 898c, 998c, and 1198c can operate the 360 Imaging. Units already in the field will only need software update that Humminbird will provide at no charge to allow the 360 Imaging to connect to models that are already in the field. The only ethernet unit not compatible at this time is the 1197c which the internal working of the Ethernet system are different...my understanding they are reviewing to see if future compatibility will be adaptable.

More to come......

If that thing will clear my the top of my garage door, I will have one of them. It would be awesome to see what you are casting at in deep water.

That will work. I called Humminbird Thursday and talked to them about the 360 Imaging. They were very helpful and even got a couple of other people on the line to answer some of my questions. Customer service is the biggest reason I have Birds on my boat. They know how to treat a customer.

Here is the SI Image that was used when Contour Mode was introduced...the depth is not on top of the track like the 360 Imaging is but can be used for comparison.

Next to the Railroad Tracks is a bunch of fish and then a pile of baitfish all over the place forward and to the left side of the top quadrant.

This might be easier to see the Fish and Baitfish!

They will not be available for retail until August. Be a good addition for Christmas 2012 list for Santa to bring you.

doug do not get me wrong here i have two 11 series on my boat and love them but i cant see what is so great about this. i do not like how much of the screen is not even used whe using the 360. i understand that it will be nice to see what you are fishing real time but not sure of the cost verse reward. just hoping you would help be to better understand what i am missing

With any imaging product you have always had to drive past the Structure or Fish to locate them using movement from the outboard, trolling motor power, turning the trolling motor, wind or current to produce images and see the details. With 369 Imaging for the first time we can look in a 360 direction including forward to either sides or behind us and never have to do anything.... the imaging pod does the work to show us the structure and most importantly the fish and exactly where they are located from our position. SO we can makes casts to them without moving the boat an inch. Being able to sit perfectly still and get refreshed reading approximately every 6 second for 360 degrees viewing. Faster if you view less coverage like 180 degrees or 90 degrees all the way to 10 degrees of coverage. You can now sit near a brush pile and watch the fish inside it or if they move away can watch them on the screen and wait till they move back in to cast at them again. It will change the way you fish grass lines, road beds, ledges and more because you will see the each location in reference to your position and in front of you. Wouldn't this be valuable??? It will huge to see the fish and how they are moving and where they moved to for me. Especially when vertical fishing and the school moves from under the boat to the right out of the 2D cone angle I will know exactly where they went to reposition myself back on top of them.

360 Imaging finds the Baitfish and Predator Fish Prowling around. And in all directions without the operator having to do anything with the boat...Imaging Pod does al lthe movement to get you 360° Imaging!
