I'd like some help if anyone has an idea what I should do. This unit is only about 18 months old. I went Friday and lowered my trolling motor (Humminbird 535 mounted on transducer), turned it on in about 3 ft. of water yet it was reading really high numbers, like 300-400 plus ft in depth. Any ideas?? Thanks

I'm taking it as you have your transducer mounted on your tm. If so first thing i would look at is to see if your transducer is knocked out of alignment. They have to be in just the right spot for the sonar signal to hit the bottom like it should or they will give false readings including depth.

Yes, it's mounted on the trolling motor. However after more inspection I found the culprit. The tranducer wire is cut in two. Do you know if it can be "spliced" or must it go into the factory for that, it appears there is a single wire surrounded by many smaller wires and they'll need to all be connected again, looks too tough for me to try it. If you know of any local folks that could repair the wire, please let me know. Thanks

I have spliced Hummingbird transducer wires before and it worked. The last time I did the depth worked but the temp. indication stopped working. It's worth a try.Sure beats buying a new transducer.

From what i read on humminbirds website you shouldn't repair a transducer cord. You can repair the power cord only. I just put a 565 on the front of mine and had to get the tm transducer thru their transducer exchange program.

Thanks guys. I think I'll give it a try as I'm thinking the alternative is a new tranducer. If someone knows of an "expert" splicer please let me know. Thanks again.

Gator, the 525 and 535 transducers are the same according to an email I got from Humminbird. I have a 535 connected to a 525 transducer. This might broaden your possibilites of locating a replacement.
