Humminbird 2012 Software Update for the 898c and 998c...

You will have the ability to remove the readout boxes on the Left side of your Side Imaging View and now have the depth and the temp displayed at the bottom of the screen. Now you can maximize your viewing area for Side Imaging. This software will be released in January for the 898 and the 998.

This is similar to the 798c Currently offers and the 1198c already has Bottom Readout Display. This will maximize the Screen Display for Side Imaging View giving you more Square Inches for Viewing the Data.

SI View Square Inches of Viewing Now Increased:
798c: 12.234 Square Inches
898c: 22.203 Square Inches - Upgrade Increases 6.172 Square Inches
998c: 29.218 Square Inches - Upgrade Increases 7.906 Square Inches
1198c: 48.15 Square Inches

That is my understanding so it will display more current SI data and make the screen larger to make the smaller details easier to see in the SI View. I DI and 2D the Left side is the oldest history so it's not as needed as SI View. Since that view scrolls from the top to botton moving the left side readout provides more room for the most current data.

Will this upgrade be available for the 997c also?

I have not heard any word on Legacy Products if this upgrade will be compatible with those units are not. Only thing that was announced was for the current model 898c and 998c. We will ahve to wait and see when the 2012 Feature Software Releases are announced in early 2012.

It's still coming just don't know the day until they release it.

Yes, I think it seen a push back with the new 360 Imaging Release...I'm working the show and will find out more information if I can. Maybe they are going to add the new 360 Imaging Software along with these features.

Hello,

I just upgraded my 998c to 6.180.
I am disappointed, because on the Side Imaging View my readout boxes are still on the left side. How can I move them down, as announced, to the bottom of the screen?

You have to go into the Sonar Tab and scroll down to SI Readout and turn them off to remove the Left Hand Readouts. It's user selectable if you want all the readouts on the Left side or want Depth and Temp OverLay and Full Screen SI.

Thank you for the help even though, you could make me more happy that the left side bar would be on the bottom of the screen as the 1000 series have it.
