I've been thinking about getting a 998c SI unit for my console. Question is, what are folks using on the front of the boat? I was thinking with a SI on the back, I might be able to get by with a DI on the front??? Any suggestions? Thanks....Jim

I have a 788 HD DI on the bow and love it. I thought with all the direction changes with the trolling motor there would be issues with the SI up front. However, look at most of the pros' boats and you will see SI on the bow. I say get the SI/DI so you have both. If you want to use SI you do not have to crank up and idle and stir everything up just to see a creek channel or drop off or whatever. Just my opinion. I hop to get SI for my Console soon. I am sticking with HB. Plan to network them. Good luck.

I also have a 788 on the bow linked up to a 798si on the console. Like riggerfish said with all the turning and directional changes on the trolling motor it seems like the SI would mess up. I have been happy with my setup other than screen size.

I love SI on the trolling motor...I'd give up my console unit before I ever give up my Trolling Motor Mounted SI! The benefits far outweigh any negatives. Turning the trolling motor effects these images less than drastic speed changes.
