So all they did was take units they already had, and take off side imaging and put a down imaging only transducer on there. Sound like Lowrance just rolled over and didn't try this year. :)

Somebody has to win. You the same about trucks too. Ford/Chevy/Dodge/Toyota, and I own a Titan. Its all a personal prefrence and its Lowrance for me. Look at all the pro's boats and see who has Lowrance and who has the Bird's. Yeah KVD has a Bird but he could catch fish with a buzzbait on a cane pole (lol).

Just like Motortrend Truck of the Year it's an Award that recognizes innovation. ICAST Best of Show Awards are voted on my the Wholesale Buyers and Media as to the most innovative features. It's an honor to be selected by un-biased judging for the best new product.

That Pro list that are using Humminbird is really growing...and compared to the sponsored list many of these guys are buying their own units or getting them purchased thru their boat manufacturers. Here's some images I've collected of Pros using Humminbird: http://www.dougvahrenberg.com/Humminbird.html I've talked to several more that are going to be switching to Humminbird for 2012.

It's a personal preference and what works best for you. I always recommend getting on the water and comparing the products see how easy they are to operate, understanding how to make changes, and operate then make the best buying decision for yourself and get the most out of your investment. Plus look at the all the features and support you get for your investment. Then make your decision. Don't make it because of a Pro, Buddy or the Internet...it's your money, make the best decision for you.

I've been a Lowrance person for years but getting tired of all the plug ins you need on a Lowrance to get the features in one box a Bird offers. Having said that and since I'm not a tx person (just not enough time to have the dedication it takes) the 3 to 5 grand it would take me to upgrade is a tough sell. Someday I will upgrade to the latest and greatest but for now, I'm skipping a generation or two in this rapidly advancing technology race that is pretty expensive to keep up with.

I'm really waiting until someone produces radar we can have on our bass boats. I hate it when it is pea soup and I want to venture out at high speed (or any speed for that matter). It would definitely ruin my day to make contact with a barge at 70 mph...

Humminbird has announced Radar for 2011. You would have to build a mount to get it above the boat. I think the smallest is a 12" radome. More data will be released soon on the full specs.

I have the 998Csi-fishing buddy has HD10. We fish together most of the time. He likes his better than mine, I like mine better than his. I think it's your preference, not someone else's opinion.
