I have a chance to get a 998 or an 1198 there is almost 1000.00 difference, is the extra 2 inches worth 1000.00?
Can you really see that much more on the bigger screen?

I love the 1198, but if it came down to spending an exta grand than a 998 would be my choice. I own a 998 and I love it. Plenty big enough.

When I get one of these, which one of you CFF guys wants to show me how to use it? It will probably be more complicated than my first Microsoft excel class. LOL.

Once you use the 1198c and that big screen it's hard to go back...Even thou the 998c is a nice unit...1198c is the Cats Meow!

Check out my Videos that's the best way to learn. www.dougvahrenberg.com or check YouTube my Channel Name is "Imonbass"

If the money is not a big problem, I'd certainly opt for the big screen - in fact, I did (1197)! I really love the screen size and the ability to see detail.

Shoot Louie B . A pm . He is on Humminbirds guide staff and knows those units inside and out. You can go in your boat and he'll set it up and show you whatever you want to know and you'll get to fish afterwards . Great deal . Bunch of CFF guys have used him to help them .</p>

Thanks Fishnvol for the kind endorsement! I have enjoyed taking many CFFr's and helped them set up and better interpret their electronics.

My recommendation would also be to go with the 1198 IF, and only IF money is no issue. If you need that extra $1000 then go with the 998 because it is a fantastic unit and will do the job in any situation!

Good luck

Ok I have decided to get the 1198c now I need to know about mapping software and sd cards which ones to get.

Good decision, that is the best graph money can buy right now.

Most definitely go with the new Lake Master card. You buy it by state rather than region and it is SUPER DETAILED. Best lake map card I've seen yet, and I like Navionics, but it's not even close to the new Lake Master. The contour detail is amazing!

The only reason you'd need an sd card along with your unit is to take/save pictures of screen shots on your unit. For example if you waypoint a brush pile, you could take a picture of it (it automatically would save on your sd card) for your memory or notes.

Louie, who has Lake Master Cards around here or do you buy them on line?[/QUOTE

I don't know anyone carrying them around here as of now. They are all over the net though, I think they retail for around $120... Google some images and see what you think Earl. I have a guide friend who's running one loves it. I have 2 on the way.

That is so sweet thank you Louie. I cant wait to get this on my boat, I still wont catch fish cause I ill be playing with it like a video game.

I talked with Humminbird customer service today and they told me they don't have a Lakemaster Map for Tennessee yet, GA, AL, FL is the closest ones. Nor does my distributor have a listing for Lakemaster Pro covering TN. Louie?
