does anybody happen to know of any rules/regulations on hunting doves over rivers or lakes around here.....?

Re: doves on water

I would guess that the only thing difference would be the required use of non/lead shot.

RE: doves on water

I was wondering the same thing this time last year. I havent seen anything in the hunting guide that says you cant hunt them by boat, so i would say its probly legal. Just as long as you have your motor cut off when you shoot, because they are considered migratory birds. No run-and-gunning. If you find out more let us know.

RE: doves on water

My dad said he has dove hunted on the tn river near knoxville about 20-30 yrs back. but many things have changed since then. maybe there is a twra officer out there somewhere to chime in....might save a feller'some trouble emoScratch

It is legal to hunt doves on water as long as ur boat is not underway. You have to have permission from land owner to retrieve dove if they go on land

You'd probably have to shoot steel to be legal. You'll definately get checked if an officer is in the area. Yes you need to get permission to access anyone's property.

Yes you can but must have steel shot. also, must be 100 yards away from any public or private dweeling or road way. One of my favorite ways to get em is over a drying farm pond. I could limit out real quick in my parking lot at work on any morning!

You can hunt dove on the river and lakes and no you dont have to use steel shot. Just got off the phone with one of the local TWRA officers and its OK but you must abide by all the other rules.
