Hey guys and gals. I know Kentucky opens this weekend as well as Georgia, be sure to drop us a report even if you dont spot any game. I am interested to see is anyone finds any acorns at all, and what food sources the deer turn to this year, thanks to the April frost. All signs show that its gonna be a record harvest year, so good luck and wear your safety harness. BTW- the seedticks/ chiggers seem to be bad this year, so cover up in permanone!

I haven't been "in the woods" yet. However when I was dove hunting last weekend I saw several water oaks on field edges that were loaded with acorns. I was surprised. Of course those water oaks don't necessarily act like "real" oak trees.

Headed to Illinois tomorrow to plant some food plots to offset the lack of corn and soy beans. Probably set up monday morning in a stand to see what we see. Opening weekend, we'll be there with stick in hand! Clay cty baby!! Looking for BBD this year!

Just returned from Clay cty, Illinois after planting some fall/winter food plots. Most of the corn has already or being cut. Our landowner says this is the earliest he has ever seen the corn harvested. Soybeans are still a few weeks away. Saw several deer, one small buck and many does. Hopefully they'll get some rain soon and bless our food plots. Looking foward to Oct 5th!

Over by Polo's house a guy got a real nice one this morning that looked to have a eight point rack on it. The deer was large in body but still had velvet hanging off the horns. I do not think the guy was one bit happy since he got it with his car....emoMad There was a highway truck parked there looking like they were waiting to hale it off. May have wanted it for the meat and was looking for permission. You could tell it had just got hit.emoDoh

Yup!!!!!!! Folks just don't understand that after a deer gets hit by a car or truck and rolls over several times under the vehicle it is pre-tenderized. Makes it that much better.;) Jmax

Was scouting yesterday, acorns are already falling and being eaten. the deer seem to be moving but not far. the ones i found were almost bedding down next to the food.

The wma off cassandra smith is holding quite a few deer. Have seen one decent buck and alot of doe with fawns.
