For those in the know, P90X is the baddest, most extreme home workout routine on the market. It comes with results though! I have only been doing in for 6 days, but combined with better food choices for a couple weeks prior, eating a breakfast of a health shake, eating smaller meals 5 times a day and cutting out white flour every chance possible, I am down 12 lbs and about 2" in the waist. I have more energy and building stamina already. To be honest I am stunned at how much better I'm feeling. I now look forward to the next days workout challenge.

Disclaimer, P90X is EXTREME and I made every excuse why a "fat guy" could not possibly do it, I was wrong. Yes, I cant do all of the moves and keep up with the speed sometimes, but you dont have to to start. You do what you can, modify what you cant do, and move on. The next time it comes up, Ill do a few more pushups, situps, pullups, the key is do the form with as much resistance as possible. When needed I am using resistance bands to simulate lifting my body, (ie pullups), cant do a pushup?, Lean against a wall with as much angle as possible and do them, it will come to you.

The set is 12 videos and the guy that motivates you is great. I feel like he knows that I cannot keep up and every time I start to say, "I cant", he seems to interject a comment about a modified version for those struggling to do the move.

Back to diet, I installed an app on the phone called, myfitnesspal, it has no affiliation with P90X, but is great for keeping up with your food intake, calories, vitamins, nutrients and even your calories burned by exercise. It takes into account your age, gender and weight to set a proper calorie count and nutrition recommendations.
You can add your friends that are also on the site and keep up with their exercise and their daily food dairy if they choose to make it public.

IF anyone wants, Id be happy to share more of what im doing and the kind of foods Im eating. Of course my Primo is playing a GIANT part of this. I grill a ton of food ahead of time for the whole family, so I have it on hand for lunches, etc. No excuse about, "there is nothing healthy I can make quick". Grilled chicken, shrimp, pork loin, veggies, roasted corn salsa, all on the menu.

Congratulations on making the leap to better health and fitness. Judie and I have been doing a biking, weight training, walking, and watching our diet regimen for about 6-7 years now. We initially each dropped about 35#. Have managed to maintain and it has become our lifestyle. You can't imagine how good you will feel when you reach your goals.

We both love to eat, but just changed to smaller portions, better choices, eat more often and counted intake and burn rate until we got established and reached our weight goals. Now it is automatic.

If you ever need any encouragement just yell. We found we liked biking much better than running and at our ages it is a lot easier on the body.

Good luck, I know you can do it.

You ARE a loser Erik! emoLaugh Congrats on losing the 12lbs so far and look forward to seeing more reports of it continuing in the right direction. Yes P90X is an extreme program, it's not easy, it's not meant to be easy, but you do your best and and continue improving. Of course everything starts with healthier eating and eliminating or greatly reducing the crap you put in your body. One guy in our group started out at a little over 300 pounds, has now just dropped below the 230 mark and is still going down to his goal of 200 lbs. He also uses MyFitnessPal, changed his diet, went through the Power 90 (the original Beachbody program P90), and is now doing P90X. He is a Federal Marshall and travels and lives in motels every week, which makes it even harder as he has to make healthy choices while eating out 3 meals a day. There are no excuses… it's merely a lifestyle choice…

We have a great little Facebook support group where we talk about eating, working out, and make fun and poke at each other… if interested check out my fan page www.team-lean.com or my smoking hot girlfriend's fan page www.teamtink.com and give us a "like" and shoot us a message, question, etc!

Spur, I tried the P90X here at home but didnt have the will power or the nutrition know how to make it work. I joined a gym in July that has a Bootcamp class and weigh management classes. I am down 29 lb to my target weight and yes your right! I love how I feel!!! I have more energy than ever before!! Congrats on sticking with it. You will love the new lifestyle.

No way! No matter how much weight you lost-I'd still be on the upper end of the GVW!
I just remember you showing interest awhile ago and some of your endearing friends made some weght remarks!?
But, no-I haven't flown in years and am no longer certified for tandem, I just know some of the guys that are and Lookout Mtn Flight Park has a really good program.
Just Google that name and you can check it out for yourself.

Figured it was time for an update on the progress. Although I am impatient and sometimes get frustrated that I'm not making fast enough progress, I have still been at it. As of today, I am down 17.5 lbs, but more importantly I am getting stronger every day. I am able to push harder on these workouts and do more each time. I was told by several that Id quit, I couldn't do it, yet I'm still there.

I have been made fun of by so-called friends at work for "dieting" because I wont eat the donuts and biscuits that seemingly have made even more frequent appearances in the office. But I actually didn't change my diet much at all. I eat about 90% of the same foods as before, just greatly reducing white flour products and milk. The biggest difference is I eat a real breakfast now, and then eat all day, 5-6 times a day. Lots of proteins, whole grains, fruits and vegetables. I have always eaten these things, but in the wrong mix. Skipping breakfast and then eating a HUGE lunch and HUGE dinner at 9pm was clearly not working. Hell, there has even been times when I need to pull in more protein in the evening to keep my ratio up, but am too full to eat. This has been a real eye opener in itself.

I hope my ramblings have helped someone, anyone that thinks they cant DO IT, to give thought and even start it, you will be glad you did.

Good update Erik! People look at me like I'm a whack job when I tell them they need to "eat more" to lose weight (-: Congrats on the 17.5 lbs, keep it up brotha!

hadnt tried the p90 exercise program but i have changed the eating habits. its really hard on me because of my back and knees but i have dropped from 312lb to 250lb by walking 5 miles a day on treadmill and doing crunches which kill my back lol. but my dr wanted me to drop some weight to see if it would help my back and knees and it has helped a little but the damage is already done due to a Logging accident and such a high impact job for the last 25yrs lol.. great job Spur its a long hard road just stick to it and keep your motavation you will do fine..great job proud of ya man
