I Just Need to VENT

I have not been fishing since the middle of July, it's a shame I know, but work and home seemed to have been pounding me into the ground. Anyway work is starting to slow down and my list of things to do at home has dwindled down to nothing. So I am geared up for some great winter fishing!!! I went out and bought some diamond lath and I made a very nice minnow trap. I went and lowered it off of a bridge at the creek I fish at in my canoe to see if I can get some minnows. I put it out on the 23rd and no minnows, so on the 24th I moved it a little shallower. I checked it on Christmas and I had about 5 dozen small minnows. I'm thinking WhoooHooo since I never had tried to do this before. So I let those minnows go because I knew that I couldn't go fishing until Saturday( that and I had no way to keep them alive). I put my trap back out last night after supper and I was excited to get my minnows because I'm going fishing Saturday come hell or high water. I decided to check to make sure I had some for my adventure tomorrow..... Well some idiot decided that It would be funny to undo my rope pull up my minnow trap haul it all the way around and under the bridge through 20 or so feet of mud smash it flat as a pancake and take the other end of my rope and tie it to a big ole rock. I brought it back home and hosed the 200,000 pounds of mud off of it and there were about 10 12 dozen minnows in it all dead of course. I mean I would rather somebody had just sole the darn thing than to destroy it like that. You know it was not a fisherman he would have at least taken the minnows out of it first. I guess I just do not understand some people sometimes? I told my dad (the tileman) yesterday that I hope someone would not take it. They didn't, they didn't take the minnows or the trap they just made me a diamond lath pancake for desert you know what I mean. Sorry guys just a little pissed right now just had to vent for a minute. -------------------------Joe

Sorry to hear about your troubles. You have every right to vent. Stupid is as stupid does. Your Dad's comment is right on,,,,maybe you could catch them next time and teach a little respect.

I have had snakes get in and eat all the minnows, but they can't get out and so they drown. I have had raccoons opens a minnow box that I use for storage and help themselves. I have never had a dirty, rotten scoundrel do something like this before. Would be bad enough if you had bought the trap, but it's even worse that they destroyed your handywork . What goes around eventually comes around.

Thanks guys! I'm not going to let some joker get the best of me. I repaired it the best I could and am fixing to go put it out so I can fish tomorrow.--------Joe
