As usual there seems to be a lot of break ins and no one seems to pay too much attention until it happens to them or someone they know. Here are a couple in the past week I was called to. This again it just one week that I dealt with.
One was a new church being built. A small Baptist church was broke into while they were starting to put items in it. The burglur(s) wrote all kinds of stuff on the walls and stole several items. Damages were pretty bad but it could have been a lot worse. The main damage to the building was they destroyed the handicap rail wall that had been constructed to allow handicap people to walk to their own seats. emoBang
Another was an attempt that I thought was worth mentioning. An elder woman living by herself in the East Ridge area was taking a shower and heard the doorbell ringing. She got out and threw something on in time to see a young man that had rung the bell several times walking towards the side of her home. She called out to him and he told her he was looking for a dog. When she started questioning him on the kind of dog and what it looked like he seemed to not know. He then left quickly and walked away. She later went to find her back walkway doors to her porch forced open and her patio door forced open. She believes he was not alone and while he was in the front seeing if someone was home they were in the back trying to get in. emoAngry This was the same story used last year at Hurricane Creek, there were some guys knocking on doors there saying they were looking for a dog when the person answered. Later it was discovered some homes had been broke into.
Third, a man over in Harrison while he and his wife were working had their home broke into. They had two TVs stolen, a lap top, a computer system, some jewelry and several assorted other items. They kicked in their back door and damaged the frame beyond repair. The door was in the back of the home on the basement floor. They did not have an alarm so they were able to ransack the whole home. The one thing he mentioned to me that I thought was odd was he received a call while this was happening he later figured out. The call was restricted and when he answered a friendly voice asked what he was doing. He has a friend that has a restricted number and he thought it was him. He told the person he was about to go on lunch and had to run home. The person then stated he had the wrong number and hung up. The home owner thinks this may have been the intruders calling him to see where he was. He feels they would have taken more if he had not been heading home.
Fourth, in Ringgold a man's garage was broke into and he had a whole lot of tools stolen as well as a power washer, some car remodeling equipment and some car parts. This happened at night while they were sleeping. emoEek The garage is detached and they never heard them.
It amazes me how bold some of these are becoming. Here is another thing I was told about worth knowing. A lady had her purse stolen. In her purse was her I. D., cell phone and bank card. She had put her husband in her phone as "Hubby". She was calling the police and talking with people about the stolen purse and then called her husband. He told her he had only a few minutes ago received her text about forgetting their pin number for the ATM. emoEek He told her he had texted it back to her. She had never made such a text. They rushed off to the bank but it was too late. The thief had accessed their account and wiped the bank account clean. emoBadLanguage
Here is one more. While at a football game some fans had their car broke into. There was a garage door opener and a GPS stolen. When they returned home their home had been broke into. Apparently in the GPS they had their home on file as their home address. The thief(s) knew how long the game lasted. They used the GPS to go straight to their home, the garage door opener to open the garage and they believe they drove a truck into the garage and loaded the stuff up in there out of sight. The thiefs knew how long they had and cleaned them out pretty badly. emoTskTsk
Be careful what you put in your phones and GPS. Private information is best left private. The four people listed at the top are now customers of mine so I hope they will not get hit again. But if they do and the alarm is on....we will know. emoPolice
If anyone is in need of alarm service, installs, monitoring, cameras, fire, closed circuit,...ex Please let me know by call or PM. I will assist you in any way I can.
